Jogging with Supernanny

I was going to watch more of What Happens In Vegas but there was a good episode of Supernanny on.  Everyone realizes that show isn't about fixing the kids but about training the parents, right?  Your 15 year old is a spoiled brat because your parenting skills suck.  Anyone have her books.  I need to start reading them.....

What Happens in Vegas

So I've become a movie critic too, on top of training for the triathlon.   Cameron Diaz....  Christy and I had a discussion today and we don't understand the male fascination with her.  Granted she's above average, but for a movie star, gentlemen, you could do so much better.  Take Jennifer Gardner for example.  Girl-next-door good looks, naturally pretty and she's not super model skinny.  My vote is for Jennifer.  What Happens in Las Vegas is turnign out to be a cute movie.  And there's always Ashton Kutcher to look at :)

20 minutes to China

So in between Ceci's bedtime, watching 300 Days of Summer (thanks Kyle for the borrow), and my weekly conference call to China I got my ass on the treadmill for 20 minutes.  Can someone please tell the Shenzen participants that I can't understand an f'in word they're saying?

Time's a wasting

So, there is only 5 months left to train for the Firecracker Tri, that's 20 weeks.  That's actually not a lot of time.  That's only 20 swim workouts.  I need to kick it up a notch.

20 minutes on the treadmill, no interval training, just walking to warm up & cool down.

Not even a little dew?

15 minute speed walking the halls of the 'pool with Christy while discussing our future career opportunities.

My potatoes have sole

I made my first (mostly) organic meal last night.  My Weight Watchers cookbook had a recipe for Potato and Cod soup.  I didn't have cod so I substituted Sole from Trader J's.  The onions were organic, the potatoes were organic.  The fish was "wild caught", not farm raised.  I was skeptical that a fish soup would taset good, but it is delicious.  Not to mention low calorie and fat and very filling.

I'm a LOSER!

No comments from you Schuette....

I weighed this afternoon (after eating lunch) and lost 5.5 pounds my first week of the Biggest Loser!  Now, according to some I cheated last week and had hip weighters and my parka on, but there's still a significant weight loss there.  12 pounds here I come!

Clocked the mileage this morning

This morning I drove the path that I took yesterday.  It was 1.5 miles one way.  Way to go Shatrau!  3.0 miles roundtrip for those of you who are mathematically challenged.  I should get an extra 1/2 mile just for the hill.  My legs are feeling it this morning.  My arms are feeling it too from pushing that extra weight.

Beer update:  I've been informed it was definitely more than ten beers so it's a good thing I ran farther than I thought.  It's also a good thing because it explains much of my behavior Saturday night ;)

Beer and jogging strollers

So I think I had no less than 10 beers last night. Excellent porter at a brewery, a Guiness, and about 8 Bud Lights.  I'm pretty sure I drank an entire days worth of calories last night.  I had a great time and hoping to do it again soon, minus all the beer.

Tomorrow is our first weigh in for Biggest Loser and In order to meet my goal of one pound per week I had to get my ass outside today to run some of the beer off.   Ceci and I jogged for an hour.  We headed north on Red Arrow and up Maiden Lane. There is a killer hill on Maiden that kicked my ass.  Add pushing 35-40 pounds on top of it and I was ready to lay down in the middle of the road.

We stopped at Subway for $5 footlongs for dinner. Chicken with mustard on whole wheat. 320 calories.

60 minute jog!

What a freakin gorgeous day.

What a freakin gorgeous day. Ceci and i are outside for a run.

Polygamy in cows (and men)

I'm running out of free movies to watch on HBO on Demand.  This morning it's Someone Like You.  It's about how this woman has found the theory that men are like bull cows who won't mate with the same cow (woman) twice.  Less than 5% of all male animals are monogomous.  Discuss amongst yourselves.....

33 minutes on the treadmill

Heading over to Bethany's this morning for crepes in our pajamas!  Yummo!  Then salmon tonight for dinner!

The Decline update

One more pound!  21 to go. Christy and I weighed in this past Monday for the biggest loser at work.  It's a 12 week program that pays out for individual and team weight loss.  Bring it on.  My goal is 12 pounds over the next 12 weeks.  Hopefully we'll see a big change for February update.

....and she's down

So I'm giving Ceci a bath tonight and as I lean into the tub to grab a toy I slip and fall, landing on my knee.  It didn't swell, but it's going to leave a mark.

Here's an article addressing my training ADD

Sprint Triathlon Training - Overcome Procrastination and Move Your Fitness Forward

ADD

So, I'm not going to lie to you, I get SO bored when I work out alone, I swear I have ADD. It's not that I get too tired or sore when I run on the treadmill (swimming is a different story) it's that I get bored. Otherwise I'd be doing at least 2 miles per workout.  I try to watch TV or a movie but even then I'm waiting for 20 minutes to roll around. I do, do better when I hide all clocks. I need to do that more often. Maybe I should try calling friends and talking on the phone while I work out. Any suggestions to break the boredom would be great.

Anne, how's the training coming? We haven't heard anything from you in a while. You've been noticably absent from FB too. Are you busy getting settled in the new place? Or trying to find a new place again? .... now that I've just had an entire conversation with myself on my blog, I'll get on with it....

P.S. I Love You

I'm such a sucker for Romance movies.  My rating system is based on how hard a movie can make me laugh or cry.  Do both and it's a definite two thumbs up.  I have this set up going now where I put Ceci to bed and I watch TV or movies while I work out on the treadmill.  I purchase a 20' extension cord for my head phones so I don't wake her.  The more distracted I am the more likely I am to stay my ass on the treadmill.  The movie was P.S. I Love You, television shows sucked.

24 minutes on the treadmill; decreased walk time to 30 seconds!
  • 15 intervals; 40 second run @ 4.5/30 second walk @ 3.5
  • 1.55 miles
  • 236 calories burned
I've been putting off the inevitable.  I need to weigh myself.  I usually do it the first week of the month so I'm a little late.  Updated weight loss chart coming soon.

Pulling out

Of the race that is.  I just might if I don't tackle this massive cold I've had since Sunday.  It wouldn't be so bad except for the chest congestion which is not allowing me to breath.  But who needs to breath when your running, right?  Seems like every time the holidays roll around I get sick.  Any time I've had the flu, it's been over Christmas break.  I blame the holiday parties with friends and family I haven't seen for years.  Everybody's kissing and hugging each other.  It's a breeding ground for sickness. And why is it I can never get a mild cold it's always a hacking cough that sounds like an 85 year old lady who's been smoking since she was five.  Super attractive.

On a good note I went shopping Thursday and bought the next size smaller in a pair of pants.  SWEEEET!  I have a bag full of pants to bring to the tailor too.  My wadrobe is officially too big for me.  It's good to have such problems.
